Alex Wills, MD

#1 Bestselling Author of Give a F*ck, Actually, Alex Wills, MD is the owner and psychiatrist of PERMA Mental Health. He is a native Idahoan but has also lived in a variety of places including New York, Israel, and Hawaii and has traveled to 40+ countries which gives him a well-rounded approach to his patients. He is happy to be serving the community of Boise. He has experience treating all forms of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD, ODD, addictions, and eating disorders. His strengths include working well to collaborate with other providers, family members who are involved with treatment, and by ensuring quality care. Dr. Wills provides psychiatric evaluations, therapy, and medication management for children, teens, adults and geriatric patients.

He is passionate about psychotherapy and amongst several other therapeutic modalities, he has completed his second year of training in Transference Focused Psychotherapy through Columbia University in Manhattan, New York. In the Winter, you will find him snowboarding. In the summer, he enjoys hiking, wake boarding and long walks.

Tauna Young, FNP

Tauna is an Idaho native with a unique understanding of the physical effects of mental illness. As an experienced healthcare provider working with patients from all walks of life in both inpatient and outpatient environments over the last eight years, she has learned that many people erroneously believe that mental and physical health can be compartmentalized. She is passionate about helping people to achieve “total health” by assisting them to honor the connection between the emotional and physical impacts of all of life’s experiences.

Tauna believes that as a healthcare provider who is passionate about promoting total health, it is her duty and honor to provide a safe, judgment-free zone where patients can discuss their concerns in a positive environment. Tauna is committed to life-long learning and promotes various modalities to support wellness.

Amylia Shayne, DNP

Dr. Amylia Shayne, DNP, FNP-C is a dedicated healthcare professional with over a decade of invaluable experience in the healthcare industry. As a board-certified Doctorate Nurse Practitioner, Amylia brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Her doctoral work has focused on maternal and pediatric mental health, she has a strong foundation in supporting and strengthening mental health from childhood through adulthood. She has over 10 years of pediatric experience, and believes in a holistic approach to pediatric and adult mental health. Her personal experiences through motherhood have shaped her approach to holistic pediatric and adult mental health.
With a compassionate approach shaped by her own experiences as a mother of two, Amylia understands the complexities and challenges that individuals experience through their lifespan. Amylia's dedication to improving the lives of her patients shines through in every aspect of her practice.

Tyson Flower, FNP

Tyson is an Idaho native with a passion for helping patients, especially those afflicted by mental health. He found this passion for mental health during his undergraduate studies at Idaho State University, which resulted in changing his degree to psychology. He later graduated from Union University in Tennessee with a nursing degree. Following graduation, he worked for St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise caring for patients with heart conditions for over 4 years. He then graduated with a Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Northwest Nazarene University.

Tyson has a calm demeanor and compassionate nature which provides a warm and accepting the atmosphere. He looks at each new patient with a fresh outlook, takes the time to listen, and address their concerns. Tyson is particularly cautious when prescribing and managing medications to ensure the safety of his patients. He enjoys working with patients of all ages and genders. He believes in providing a team approach to treatment, involving patient, provider, family, and fellow providers when applicable.

Lisa Miller, PMHNP, MSN, CDCES

Lisa Miller is an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse, with specialty certification and training in psychiatric medicine. She was born and raised in our nation’s heartland which spawned her desire to improve mental health services in underserved and rural areas. She possesses experience within a multitude of diverse settings including outpatient behavioral health, acute care, correction institutions, case management, and critical care nursing, with added expertise and clinical Certification in Diabetes Education and Support. Lisa has a thirst for research and exploring cutting edge, evidence-based and innovative approaches to provide effective treatment. Her education and experience allows for the identification of unmet physical and mental health needs through the development of individual interventions via collaborative and patient centered care. It is her calling to support those on the verge of giving up and propel them towards their best life.

Victoria ‘Tori’ Holdeman, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Tori is a board certified psychiatric mental health practitioner passionate about providing quality, compassionate, comprehensive mental health care for children through senior adults. She builds rapport with patients and families while using her clinical skills and natural ability to provide up to date medication management and psychotherapy. Before entering advanced practice, Tori provided care as a psychiatric nurse at inpatient behavioral health hospitals for six years, and prior to this she provided care as an RN in long term care and rehabilitative care. Tori is a two-time Olympian (1992 and 1996). She competed in the women’s 10,000-meter race walk. She holds over 22 national championship wins, and she has competed on many USA Track & Field international teams around the globe.

Gordon 'Brad' Greaves, PA-C

Brad Greaves is a PA with 21 years of experience, a graduate from Stanford University's PA program with a Masters Degree from Arizona School of Health Sciences. He cultivates a comforting, safe environment for all his patients. Brad is an active listener who enjoys working with clients to find a plan of care that is unique for each individual.

He is passionate about helping his clients attain their mental health goals to improve their lives. He believes that mental health is an important part of everyone's life and that we are our best when our mental and physical health is in tune with each other. His non judgmental empathetic approach helps guide clients to help them become the person they want to be. As an Idaho native his interests in the outdoors have led to many adventures road cycling, mountain biking, snow skiing and boating with his family and friends. He welcomes new clients to his practice and is excited to work with you towards a better future.

Rene Alamo, PMHNP

Rene Alamo is an Idaho native with 15-years of healthcare experience specializing in acute mental healthcare. He attended Gonzaga University’s Graduate School of Nursing to achieve his Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). When Rene started his journey into nursing he dedicated his career to his late grandmother, Trini. With that dedication, his goal is to provide every one of his patients with the highest quality compassionate and competent care. He treats patients across the age spectrum from children to geriatric. His goal as an advanced practice provider is to extend evidence based, compassionate and competent care to treat our communities' mental health needs. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing board games and camping in Idaho’s great outdoors.

Julie Akins, FNP

Julie graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2007 with her Family Nurse Practitioner degree. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Julie spent 17 years working primarily in an Intensive Care Unit. She Spent 8 years teaching at the College of Southern Idaho’s nursing program. Julie is excited and dedicated to work in the Mental Health field with PERMA in Twin Falls. She enjoys knowing that she can positively impact the lives of patients.
