How to pick your Mental Health Provider
Mental Health Minute With Tauna Young, FNP-C

What should you be looking for when choosing a mental health professional? A good mental health professional will take the time to find out what your treatment goals are and suggest options that are compatible with your preferences. He/she will be open for a consideration of potential root causes that are outside of the psychiatry bubble that may be affecting mental health such as thyroid disease, GI problems, infectious diseases, low testosterone, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and more. He/she will foster a sacred space for you to confidentially discuss your concerns in a judgement-free zone. The number one factor that influences treatment outcomes is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. For this reason, it is always useful to not only find someone who is qualified, but also someone whom you like, feel comfortable with, and enjoy talking to.In short, although he/she may ask you some difficult questions and challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone, a good mental health professional serves as an advocate for YOU, YOUR values, and YOUR goals.Whenever you’re ready to start your mental health journey, I’m ready to walk with you.I got you.I hear you.I see you.
