Meet Our Providers
Alex Wills MD
Dr. Wills is the Owner and a Psychiatrist of PERMA Mental Health. He is a native Idahoan, but has also lived in a variety of places including New York, Israel, and Hawaii and has traveled to 38 countries which gives him a well-rounded approach to his patients. He is happy to be serving the community of Boise.
He has experience treating all forms of mental health concerns including Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD, ODD, Addictions, and Eating Disorders.
He is passionate about psychotherapy and amongst several other therapeutic modalities, he has completed his second year of training in Transference Focused Psychotherapy through Columbia University in Manhattan, New York.
In the Winter, you will find him snowboarding. Summer time he enjoys hiking, wake boarding and long walks.
His strengths include working well to collaborate with other providers, family members who are involved with treatment, and by ensuring quality care.
Dr. Wills provides psychiatric evaluations, therapy, and medication management for children, teens, adults and geriatric patients.
Shannon Jares FNP
Born and raised near Boise, Shannon is a true Idaho native. She graduated with honors from the nurse practitioner program at Walden University in 2018, and has been a nurse for 20 years with experience in ICU and ER. She is married and has two daughters along with two bulldogs. She enjoys hiking, biking, and cheering for her daughters at sporting events.
Shannon is excited to join PERMA Mental Health and feels that every person deserves access to a provider who will advocate on his or her behalf. She encourages collaboration with other healthcare modalities along with the use of medications when needed. She strives to create a safe environment conducive to health maintenance and mental healing, and believes each patient has an individualized story and deserves individualized care.
Tyler Steers FNP
Tyler is an Idaho native and has been working in healthcare for nearly 20 years. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Boise State University and spent over 10 years in mental health before transitioning to nursing. He then received his bachelor's degree in nursing from Boise State and worked in the emergency department for 5 years prior to receiving his graduate degree from Gonzaga University. He is currently a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
Tyler has a passion for both functional and integrative medicine which helps him to use a holistic perspective when treating patients. He recognizes that treating mental health requires addressing the whole person and is supportive of each patient's personal values and beliefs regarding treatment decisions. Tyler enjoys working with patients who want to be invested in their own health and work together as a team to reach goals and maintain strong mental health.
